Dry Cupping Therapy Nottingham
What is Dry Cupping Therapy?
Are you considering Dry Cupping Therapy Nottingham? Cupping Therapy has been used for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians used it as a form of natural healing. It is also used today as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The cups are rounded in shape and are usually made from glass. It is often used with acupuncture but can be used as a treatment on its own.
Cups are placed onto the skin in a way that causes a vacuum inside the cup. The vacuum sucks the skin into the cup which is left in place for up to 20 minutes. Several cups can be used in one treatment. Massage oil is applied to help the cups slide across the skin. This technique helps the blood and ‘qi’ to flow more easily, especially where there are areas of stagnation.
Cupping can leave red round patches on your skin. These patches have been identified on athletes at the 2016 Olympic Games. The circles can take up to 3 to 4 days to disappear. Redness shows that there has been movement in the circulation of blood under and around the cups. Not all cupping will result in redness. It depends on the issue being treated and how every person responds.
Dry Cupping treatment should only be practised by someone who is trained and qualified to provide the treatment.
Acupuncturists at the Riverside Natural Health Centre are qualified and trained in cupping techniques. They are also members of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).
